Average Rating: Rating: - stand up for liberty and freedom of expression I consider it my patriotic duty to purchase all of the DC's cds. The music is good, and they need the support from True Patriots now that they are on the Limbaugh/Clear-Channel hit list for saying what millions of Americans feel. Rating: - An album from the band that will never sell out! As a huge fan,I can give nothing but the highest praise for the latest album from The Dixie Chicks. Even though they haven't been around for years and have only released two albums(with Natalie Maines),I already consider them to be the greatest musicians on the face of the earth and will continue to do so. Nothing on the album is 'typical' of 'The Chicks' because they tend to experiment with a wide range of musical genres-soul,pop and rock can all be heard but there is no doubt in my mind that they are a country group. On this album,there is a lot more writing input from 'The Chicks'. 'Ready to Run' and 'Cowboy Take Me Away' were partly written by Martie,Natalie co-wrote 'Without You',and with Emily she wrote 'Sin Wagon' and 'Don't Waste Your Heart'. Thinking about the songs-'Ready to Run' has a slight celtic feel,'If I Fall....',and 'Some Days you gotta Dance' are poppy songs,'Hello.Mr Heartache' is typical,traditional country and there are also a number of ballads on 'Fly' including 'Cowboy,Take me Away','Heartbreak Town' and 'Without You'. Also,not forgetting the hilarious 'Goodbye Earl'(the story-telling Thelma and Louise-style song-definetely one for the gals!) So,with the rich and beautiful vocals from lead singer Natalie Maines,combined with the powerful instrumental work and wonderful harmony vocals from sisters Martie Seidel and Emily Robison,makes 'Fly' and also the previous 'Chicks' outing-'Wide Open Spaces' albums to listen to over and over again. Chicks Rule! Rating: - I hated country...now I love the Dixie Chicks! This is my new favorite CD! I borrowed my friends copy of Wide Open Spaces after I saw them on 60 minutes or something because I loved thier personalities and they seemed like cool people. I love Wide Open Spaces, but I went out and bought FLY after seeing thier concert on NBC. FLY hasn't left my CD player in 3 weeks. I love it! Natalie has an incredible voice, Martie is the best fiddie player I've ever heard, and Emily's awesome on banjo and slide guitar. This album is so much fun...It ROCKS! I can't pick my favorite songs, because I love it all. And I can't really say that about alot of CD's I've bought. But this one is worth it! My only regret is that I wasn't a fan yet and I didn't get to see them when they came here in June. I would've slept out for a week to get some front row seats. -Liz :)
