Overall, I LOVE this album. Though, the first time I heard it I had a hard time getting into it. What I like most about it is there's a variety of music on it. A lot of artists do the same type of song over and over and over, and their CD's get rather boring. Take Streisand's "A Love Like Ours" for example. Unfortunately, some of the songs on Celine's new release are not that bad... "Rain and Taxes" is one I really can't stand. 1. I'M ALIVE --- I love this song... really fun 2. RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU --- This one I can't get into 3. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE --- First time I heard this was on her recent TV special. Almost brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful. 4. RAIN, TAX --- Don't like it 5. A NEW DAY HAS COME (radio edit) --- I prefer the album version 6. TEN DAYS --- Fun new sound for Celine 7. PRAYER --- At first, I thought it sounded too sappy and fats-forwarded through it. That was a mistake. This is a beautful song 8. GOODBYE --- Can't get into it. Maybe a little too syrupy for my tatse 9. I SURRENDER --- A power ballad... which Celine has maybe done too many of throughout her career. But, God, this one really works! 10. AT LAST --- Good cover of a classic song. I like the song's violin intro best. Good addition 11. SORRY FOR LOVE --- Uptempo. Loved it. Sounded like the kind of thing Cher would do on her Believe album... only done by a bettre singer 12. AUN EXISTE AM0R --- Can't get into it. Wanna but can't 13. THE GREATEST REWARD --- Another really good ballad 14. WHEN THE WRONG ONE LOVES YOU RIGHT --- Okay but not one of Celine's best... not even one of the best on the album 15. A NEW DAY AS COME (album versio) --- Often when there are two versions of a song, I prefer the one with the faster pace. Not here... I much prefer this slower version 16. NATURE BOY --- I also saw her do this on her TV special. And, though I'd heard the song before (like in "Moulin Rouge"), it still actually brought a couple of tears to my eyes.
Rating: - Welcome Back Celine
...Now, the title track I think is the best song on here. It's beautiful and shows off Celine's vocal talent nicely. Another favorite of mine is the pleasent pick-me-up "When the Wrong One Loves You Right." She sang it with Destiny's Child on her comeback special. The "Goodbye" track is a sad and heart-breaking song and is equally beautiful. My complaint is there are a lot of fillers that I don't think show off Celine's voice quite as well as previous works. But it is still worth a try. She is amazingly talented.d soul - songs like I'm Alive/10 Days/Right in Front of You. You do remember songs like Misled and Love Can Move Mountains, can't you? The woman has soul - it just got buried a bit in those earlier-mentioned power ballads. Not to say they're not here, they're just part of the picture and not the whole thing. A New Day Has Come, most definitely NOT a power-ballad, even in it's album version, is probably the most perfect song she's ever recorded - powerful, soulful, yet without the top-of-the-lungs belting that's made other beautiful songs a bit too much for some to appreciate. I Surrender IS a power-ballad, and it feels like too much, and out of place. It seems out of place on this album. At Last, my only disappointment, seems to tightly arranged and restrained when compared to the soulful versions of Etta James and others who have recorded this masterpiece of a song. If musicians kept producing the same thing every time, they wouldn't be artists. This new album, while not perfect, is a strong showcase for Celine's talents and a welcome addition to my CD collection.

Just when we thought there was nothing else Celine could surprise us with, she releases "A New Day Has Come". This album is definitely her best yet. There is an aura of freshness and emotion in each one of the 16 marvelous tracks. From the first tracks, "I'm Alive" and "Right in Front of You" one can feel the familiar voice in musical genre that hadn't been touched before. The title track is sure to become a hymn for all those who have been renewed by the arrival of a magical person in our lives. Just as there are surprises in "A New Day Has Come", there are the classic, deep from the soul love songs like "Have You Ever Been In Love" and "Goodbye's the Saddest Word". A classic rendition of "At Last" (an Etta James classic) and Nat King Cole's "Nature Boy" add a magical touch to this album. "A New Day Has Come" also contains perfectly crafted rhythmic tracks that are sure to make it to the top of the dance charts, such as "Sorry for Love". "Rain, Tax, it's Inevitable", and the irresistible "Ten Days" make this album complete offering more freshness from the totally renewed yet classic Celine. Overall, this album has impressed me like few have. "A New Day Has Come" is such a well rounded and carefully crafted production that it is sure to become an instant classic. Fall in love with Celine all over again!
