Sooooo disappointed. I'M A HUUUUUUUUUUUGE SHAKIRA FAN, have been for the past six years. I don't want to say this BRUNETTE sold out: her hair looks as good now as it did when it was red, but her songs just aren't poetic when they're translated word by word. And her voice sounds much better in spanish because she's not struggling with the pronunciation in the same way. Fool is OK. The words are understandable. It's not that easy to sing in another language, so kudos. The one's in spanish are GREAT! reminds me of what we're missing out on. I'd recommend buying her Unplugged album, Piez Descalzos, or Donde estan los Ladrones (and maybe a dictionary)... Shakira, te deseo lo mejor. Me encanta tu musica, y tus canciones, he comprado todos tus CD (este tambien) pero no dejes de cantar en espa~ol. Q no se te olvide quienes son tus fans.

Shakira! What an amazing performer!! Shakira has been a Colombian Spanish singing phenomenon for a lot of years. With previous hits like "Ojos Asi" and "Donde Las.." it's sure to be a greatly expected debut. But this, this just blows my mind. Her first crossover album, and it's phenomenal, just like the woman. All the tracks are an amazing attempt for a first shot at an English CD. Here's my overview of the tracks:1. Objection (Tango): The introduction is great. It actually has the tango beat! The song is full of Latin flavor and energy! It's about a guy she likes and he's attracted to this other girl. The lyrics are funny if U get to understand them. The music is great and the singing is fabulous! = 5 Stars 2. Underneath Your Clothes: This is very emotional. I'm not so fond of this track but it is very good indeed. Shakira puts a great effort into this song. It's a ballad, a good one. Not one of my favorite tracks, but still a great song. = 4.5 Stars 3. Whenever, Wherever: My absolute favorite track. Might seem like that because it was the 1st single off the CD, but that is not the case. The song is full of danceable music, great lyrics, and it's just a great, great song! It's awesome! Absolutely Recommended!: 5 Stars 4. Rules: What a song! I love this song! It's full of great trumpets and drums. It's about the rules of a relationship according to her. It's a funny song, but on the otherhand, very emotional and serious. It's an awesome song! Totally danceable! Again, Absolutely Recommended!: 5 Stars 5. The One: It's a sorta kinda a ballad, but not really. It's got a great beat, and it's another very emotional track. The song is a great relaxing song, and it's a great track. It sort of reminds me of an Alanis Morissette type of song. But it's Shakira, so it's great.= 4 Stars 6. Ready For the Good Times: Another absolutely recommended song on this great CD! The song has a very smooth, rock vibe. Shakira's voice sounds better than ever and it's absolutely great. Great music and sound! = 5 Stars 7. Fool: This song slows it down for the listener. It a rocky sounding song. It's telling you about Shakira being a fool for someone she loves. But, I really like this song. = 4.75 Stars 8. Te Dejo Madrid: It wouldn't be a Shakira disc without some Spanish! This song is so energetic and fun! I don't have a clue as to what she is saying, but this song is absolutely great and fun! = 5 Stars 9. Poem to A Horse: This song is cool! The beginning, sounds like a No Doubt song, but in a good way! This a good song. There are background singers in this one. It doesn't really sound like she has them in other songs, but this one does show it considerably It's a quick, emotional song! Has a very rock 'n' roll vibe! Very cool= 5 Stars 10. Que Me Quedes Tu: This song has a very weird tempo. One-second in the introduction, it sounds like she's charming a snake, and next, it sounds like a Country song. It's again, another Spanish song, but still great. But, again, another slower song than the rest. It's clams the album down, and relaxes the listener a little more. = 4 Stars 11. Eyes Like Yours: Ohmygod! This is the English translation of "Ojos Asi"! I loved that song ever since it came out a few years ago. Even though in English, it still sounds great. I'll finally be able to understand the song! A Great urban beat, and her voice sounds great. Absolutely Recommended= 5 Stars 12. Suerte- The Spanish version of "Whenever, Wherever". It sounds just as good as the original, but I personally like the English version a little bit more. It still sounds great, and still has that energy that makes a great song. = 5 Stars 13. Te Aviso, Te Anuncio (Tango): The Spanish version of "Objection"! I love that song! And the Spanish version is just as good! If U know the lyrics and where everything is in the song, U'll be able to follow along with this! Absolutely fabulous! = 5 Stars With songs like these from a 1st English debut, it's sure that Shakira will succeed in anything she does. I love this CD and I love Shakira. Be sure to buy this album! U gotta check it out! A whole lot of energy from Shakira makes an awesome album!! Letter Grade : A

How can one let this album slip out of their hands?! Laundry Service is a perfect example of a cultural fusion mixed with exotic sounds and pounding, emotional vocals! Wild-hearted works of lyrical art include songs such as the bouncy, tango-happy Objection, the oddly soothing, yet serious Poem To A Horse, and the beautiful, adoring ballads Underneath Your Clothes and The One. However, one mustn't shove aside the easily-craved, Arabic-influenced Eyes Like Yours (the English version of Ojos Asi), or Ready For The Good Times, which takes listeners back to the '80s, and coerces them to slip on legwarmers and headbands to get their grooves on. Fool tells us in an almost sarcastic but equally brilliant melody that the Latin diva has been hurt by the object of her affection, and on Rules, she lists her needs and necessities for a perfect relationship to a powerful, rigid tune. And of course, one must not forget the one that came straight from the Andes, an MTV favourite: Whenever, Wherever. The song is just as catchy as the video, and is unmatched by its ability to make the aficionados want to get up and move their hips!Shakira's pronunciation of the English language is incredibly perfected, yet her Spanish tongue remains to keep the Colombian's flavour alive. In fact, four songs on the album are in her native tongue, including Whenever, Wherever's alternative Suerte, the Asian-inflected Que Me Quedes Tu, the poppy, addicting Te Dejo Madrid, and Te Aviso, Te Anuncio (Objection's counterpart). This album is a definite buy, and anyone who is able: I highly recommend purchasing it as quickly as possible. But you know... ...It's not her fault that she's so irresistible! Or is it?
