I would definitely have to agree with the earlier reviewers that this album was worth the wait. The thing I like about Sean Paul is the energy and creativity he puts into every track. I had to admit I was a little worried about how much of his wicked, original style would be diluted with the mainstream influence. With Dutty Rock Sean doesn't dilute, but rather helps elevate dance hall to another level. Like Stage One, I can nod my head to this album from start to finish. "Gimme the Light" is obviously getting the mainstream play, but the best tracks on the album in my opinion are "Like Glue" (LOVE that riddim!!), the remake of "I'm Still in Love" (A successful reincarnation of a classic), "Can You Do the Work" (Nice collab with a very talented artist in Ce'Cile), and "Punkie" (I don't even speak Spanish but I love both versions). He rounds out the album with some other great tracks doing collaborations with great artists from the Hip Hop and Dance Hall world. The remix of "Gimme the Light" with Busta Rhymes is definitely a banger for the Hip Hop heads. I was slightly disappointed with a couple tracks, like "Essa Loca" and that "Bubble" track. I guess I was expecting more from collaborations with Tony Touch and the Neptunes. Nevertheless, this album is extraordinary for a sophmore effort, and a great primer for those who have been sleepin' on dance hall music. It's amazing but yet a long time coming for artists like Sean to break into mainstream, American music culture. Hopefully Sean won't have to sacrifice his original sound to keep doing so. Nuff Respect Sean!! DUTTY EHH!!!!
Rating: - Tracks that make you wanna shake my bootie!
I love this album. Makes me want to "Oscillate mi hips" (quote from 'Get Busy'). I thought the spanish version of punkie was a great idea (even though I don't speak spanish), and like both versions. All the reggae tracks are phat, and most of the dance hall as well. I recommend this cd to everyone, it's worth it.

I don't like reggae music at all, but when I heard "Dutty Rock", I liked it. Sean Paul is definitely the best reggae singer ever!!!!!!! This album has something for everyone. If you like to shake your bum to reggae, you'll definitely like "Get Busy" and "Gimme The Light" that has a badass beat. If you like hip- hop, "Gimme The Light remix" with Busta Rhymes is the song for you. "LIke Glue" is another good track from this outstanding album. I have to admit that Sean Paul has skills and will be very popular in the future.
