Average Rating: Rating: - THE RETURN OF ROCK 'N ROLL WARNING: THE DONNAS WILL MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE SEVENTEEN! This music will make you feel rebellious, reckless, horny, joyful, invincible. It's everything good about Rock 'n Roll - loud, fast, irreverent, and most of all, FUN! When you throw this baby on, you'll be playing air guitar, desk drums, and singing out loud! Every song has a hook to it that pulls you right in. The first single, "Take it off", is a monster, joined by the opening track "It's on the Rocks" as well as "Please Don't Tease" and "Too Bad About Your Girl" and . . . ah, hell, the whole album ROCKS! These ladies play with an energy that cannot be denied! The album also comes with a great DVD which includes an interview of the band by Andy Dick, a behind-the-scenes look at the recording of the album, and a really funny video for "Do You Wanna Hit It" from their previous release _The Donnas Turn 21_. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED - NOW CHECK IT OUT! Rating: - a nice rock n' roll fantasy...but it's a fantasy nonetheless Make no mistake about it this album and the song-craft employeed here are high octane bombs to the whole major label world. There's really nothing like this lurking the MTV TRL regions of rock. That said regardless of the music present it still feels like a sham. The Donnas are nice girls. Really. Watch the DVD. Read interviews. There's nothing wrong with the fact they're decent human beings, but if you're going to be writing songs about being with multiple guys in a night or drug use or the Andrew W.K. party hard world you'd better mean it. That's the problem here. No matter how much I like the songs I'm not sold on the lyrics. Ever. It's pure fantasy. The same thing haunted the Runaways because they too weren't the hellions everybody thought them out to be and you can almost make a case for the post-Bon Scott AC/DC...those blokes aren't anything like the legendary drifters and derelicts they write about in song. Maybe someday the four talented women will write songs about what really goes on in their lives with the same edge and humor that brought them this far. If they do I'll buy that album. Rating: - real rock is back I am a music fan of all kinds. One of those kinds is raw, energetic,rock with good beats and distorted guitars. The only problem I have with Spend the Night is that I am a 27 year old male, and that makes it hard for me to relate to the lyrics. But that wasn't a difficult hurdle to overcome. Once I started to listen to it, they could have been singing about playing tiddley winks. The music and their ability to play their instruments speaks for themselves. To Donna R I want to say thanks for the great solos as well as your awesome rhythm playing. This is the best rock album I have bought in a long, long time. To anyone who likes Appetite for Destruction era GNR and early AC/DC, with a little Joan Jett mixed in, you should pick up this CD. I don't think you will be disappointed. I hope these four young ladie's will help rid us of manufactured, generic [junk] music, at least for a while. And if you are reading this, you know who I am talking about.
