Rating: - The George Foreman Grill really does "cut the fat" from food
This is easily the best "As Seen On TV" product ever made (I'd like to see Ronco top this marvelous machine). As I am writing this review, I am eating boneless skinless chicken breasts that were made on the George Foreman "Champ" Grill". They are so good that words cannot describe how good they are...just sprinkle some "Mrs. Dash 'Table Blend'" on the chicken breasts before you cook them, put them on the grill, and have a great chicken dinner (only other thing you have to do is find something to go along with the chicken [maybe some white rice]). Cleanup is so easy it's ridiculous! The nonstick surface allows you to clean the grill surface with a soft clean cloth or sponge (dampened with warm water, of course), and the drip tray can go in the dishwasher. Just yesterday I prepared some turkey burgers (from Wampler Foods) on the grill, and it is amazing how much fat will be drained from turkey burgers (even though turkey meat has less fat that ground beef [which is what hamburger patties are made of], it still has fat). The George Foreman Grill really does "cut the fat" from food!
Rating: - Great product, but....
I have this product and while it is fantastic at grilling just about everything, I have one complaint... OK, maybe one and a half. The non-stick surface doesn't last as long as it should, even when you use the plastic spatula. I have completely followed the manufacturer's instructions, and yet the surface is flaked and pealing. My second complaint is that clean up is certainly NOT a breeze! Yes, you can take a few wet paper towels and place them in there while it's still hot and that helps alot, but it's still a mess, and tedious. I'm about to purchase another unit similar to this because I DO love the way they cook, but I will buy one that has removeable plates that can be cleaned in a dishwasher or by hand without worrying about the electricity attached. Again, as a fantastic way to grill indoors, I give this product a huge "10" on cooking ability, but for clean-up and indurance? Sorry, it just doesn't cut it for me.
Rating: - Convenience - YES, Taste - NO
Saw it in a local store so I picked it up. It sits on top of the waffle iron and I can hardly tell the difference between the two.I wasn't impressed with the taste of the food. It's nice to pretend you're eating healthy since 1% of the grease in that 20% fat hamburger dripped out, but guess what? The burger tastes bad. I also found grilling vegetables to be a pain. Don't expect them to cook evenly unless you chop everything to exactly the same thickness. The model I got had a timer which is a nice convenience. It doesn't look like this one has it. It's basically a frying pan that puts grill marks on your food. The food doesn't taste as good as a charcoal or gas grill and cleanup takes longer than grilling or even pan frying. So why get it? Reviewers say it makes good grilled cheese sandwiches and I might give fish the old college try but I'm pretty sure mine's going back to the store before the 30 days is up.
