I don't know how they hold up as far as breaking down is concerned, but assuming it holds up, it's definitely a great product for the money: PROS: > The second handset need only to be plugged in for charging (i.e. no phone jack is needed). This makes the product ideal for use in rooms or areas where you don't have a phone Jack or it's hard to reach. > To change the ringer volume or turn it off (a feature I was definitely interested in), you don't have to go through extensive menues and it's all done with click of a button for either handsets and the base (arrow up/down), all independant of each other. > Caller ID on both handsets (which can be placed on the base with the caller ID screen facing up). > Remote access > Good quality voice and reception CONS: > No loud-speakers (on the base or handsets). > The secondary handset doesn't allow > Only one person at a time can use the phone. In other words, both handsets won't work simultaneously > Unplugging it from the wall or power-outage will reset the time and date, and you'll have to go back and set it again (some phones have internal battery for short-time memory) OVER ALL: Good value for the money Rating: - OK, with a major fault I bought this phone system after a 2.4 ghz AT&T died on me after a year of use. The cost of this system is certainly a bonus as this system is a lot cheaper than the other 2 handset cordless phone system. My initial reaction was that this is a good system, the sound is good, and the batteryt life is fine. However, after a few days. My wife and tried to get on the phone at the same time. IT DOES NOT WORK. Both handsets can not be used at once. There is a call transfer function, to transfer the call from one phone to another, but both can't be used at the same time. Rating: - Uniden 900 MHz Expandable Phone I was very happy with the 900MHz Cordless phone I currently own, but needed an expandable phone because I lacked phone jacks in my house. This phone is perfect. At a great price, it gives you the flexibility you need to have an extra phone without the expense of putting in another phone jack. I have been very happy with the sound quality, and answering machine feature. I am also excited about the opportunity to add a headset to add to the versatility of this phone.
