Average Rating: Rating: - McLintock - Great movie...buy the AUTHORIZED version! I've been a McLintock fan since 1963...when it came out to the movies. My dad took me to see it on my 11th birthday. I held off buying the VHS version once I discovered the Wayne Foundation had not released an "authorized" copy. Once it did, I purchased three...just in case one got damaged! Yes...I love the movie. For DVD customers....it IS worth the wait. If, as you can see from other reviews, the transfer quality to DVD is poor, then why waste your money now, when you can (HOPEFULLY!!) purchase the legitimate product when the Wayne Foundation releases it! This is a GREAT movie for all ages. Kids love the shenanigans, teens like the romance, and us old-timers just like an easy-on-the-eyes and -ears movie with a happy ending. This is the only movie review I've ever written, but the movie was worth it. Rating: - Great Movie; Lousy technical production McLintock is a great movie for John Wayne fans. Lots of fun, the typical John Wayne brawl, plenty of humor. Chill Wills adds much to the show. Maureen O'Hara is the shrewish wife who the Duke eventually tames. I'd give this movie 5 stars except for the quality of the reproduction, which is really poor. I really love this movie, and if it was reissued with the quality we expect from DVD, I'd probably buy it again. Rating: - Great Movie; lousy video quality This is one of my favorite movies, hey, it's a John Wayne flick. Lots of fun, action, and the standard brawl scene. Unfortunately, the video quality is the worst I've seen on a DVD... muddy color, blurry, grainy. I'm not sure if the film was shot widescreen or not, but this DVD is not widescreen. If a new edition came out with the problems corrected, I'd rebuy it. The lack of technical quality gets in the way of the enjoyment of the movie. Were it not for the video quality problems, I'd give it 5 stars.
