Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good Follow Up to the Grammys
I bought this DVD the day after Norah Jones swept the Grammys, and I wasn't sure what to expect. As a performer she is talented and warm, but refreshingly reserved. Unlike most celebrities who use their moments in the spotlight, Miss Jones seems intent on keeping herself to, well, herself. Good for her.
She's got talent, poise, and she's easy on the eyes. Original songs will come in time, and if she continues doing excellent covers, great. (Personally, I'd like to hear her version of Peggy Lee's "Fever.") I was impressed by her band as well - especially the lead guitarist. The DVD is well done, spare on the features, and sound quality is better than average.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - I love Norah but...
Norah Jones is an amazing artist. Her songs are lyrically beautiful and the way she sings them stuns me every time I listen to her CD. That said, I was disappointed when I watched her DVD, Live in New Orleans. Her perfomance was relaxed and laid back, something that I have come to expect from her, but it just seemed too structured. I was hoping to get more of a feel for Norah's personality but all I got was a replay of her CD. She did very little in terms of jamming, which is a staple in jazz/blues. The songs seemed like they were staight off the sheet music. Any group of musicians could have pulled off the same performance. There were brief moments when I thought she might come out of her shell more but I was disappointed there as well. In contrast, I recently bought John Mayer's DVD, Any Given Thursday, and his quirky personality and humor shone through. I was hoping for a similar showing from Norah. Honestly, I think you can get the same appreciation for Norah's music and artistry from her CD. The 4 added songs were nice and definitely well done but probably not enough for me to actually buy the DVD, if I had it all to do over again. If you already have the CD, you might as well just listen to it again. If you don't have the CD, go out and buy it, it is worth all the accolades and praise heaped on it. The DVD, unforunately, is just not worth the extra [$$] or the hour that you spend watching it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good DVD, but absolutely terrific performance
A fun, sweet Norah Jones performance coupled with out-of-this-world audio quality makes this modestly priced DVD a must buy. You get to hear most of the songs from Norah's "Come Away With Me" CD, plus a couple of other good pieces. Extras include the "Come Away With Me" music video and an encore song from the main concert this DVD chronicled. Actually it would have been better if the main concert just flowed right into the encore, as I'm sure it did in real life. Here, Norah says good night, the credits roll, the picture fades to black, and we're sent back to the main menu. Then, when you click on the "encore" icon in the extras section, we're right back in New Orleans with Norah back on stage performing "Tennessee Waltz" (a great rendition, by the way). Yes, it's a small point, but that extra clicking around was needless and broke the flow of the performance a bit. Also, some of the lighting was harsh (Norah has what looks like a blue electrical sheen on her face all through one song, which was kind of annoying), and with an excessive amount of fading from one shot to another, the direction drew attention to itself and came off as distracting. But in the end all these things qualify as quibbles, as the musical performance itself- aided by the DVD's excellent sound- is subtle, nuanced, sensual, and very sweet. Norah is the real deal, a fact that comes through clearly on this DVD.
