Rating: - Flawed but Well Made Supernatural Thriller.
In 1962, When a Mystery Man and Others did murder all the Passengers and Crew on a large Boat Ship. Then 40 years later... a strangely grim young Airplane Pilot (Desmond Harrington) find the Ship has been missing for 40 years. The young man recruits a cocky Salvage Crew (Julianna Margulies, Ron Eldard, Gabriel Byrne, Karl Urban, Isaish Washington & Alex Dimitraides) to examine the Mystery Ship that turns out to be the Cadaver of an Italian Ocean Liner.Directed by Steve Beck (13 Ghosts-Remake) made a entertaining, eerie, sometimes scary Ghost Horror film. Beck manages to pull off, Good Performances from the Cast, including:Emily Browning as Katie. This has some terrific Visual Effects and a good music score by John Frizzell. Although the film is flawed, because, director:Beck never knows, what his film to be & it's never recaptures the early pizzazz of the Prologue and at times, it seems Beck doesn't know how Good or Evil or Dreamy or Nightmarish, he wants his own version of Tales of the Crypt Vessel to be but Beck does a better job with his Second film. It's worth seeing. Produced by Joel Silver (The Matrix Trilogy), Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump) & Gilbert Alder (Bordello of Blood). From a Story by Mark Hanlon & the Written Screenplay is by Hanlon & John Pogue (U.S. Marshals, The Skulls, Tears of the Sun). Grade:A-.
Rating: - It's okay, but it isn't as bad as some are saying...
This is a 3 star horror movie that isn't that scary, but is severly underated. Yes it ripsoff better and scarier movies, but it was alot better than Fear Dot Com, Swimfan, Abandon, and They. This is one I'd recommend you seeing. It's got gore, lots of laughs (most of them are unintentional) and maybe a few scares, but nothing that will mess you up, so that makes this a perfect party movie that you sit back and watch with your buds and laugh at it. Highly recomennded.
Rating: - Ghost Ship is Surprisingly Good.
I decided to ignore most reviews of this film and check it out anyway. I am very glad I did. I don't understand why people think its so bad. Ghost Ship is about a crew who aboard an abandoned ship that went missing in 1962, and was never heard of again. The crew finds it and strange things begin to happen. They start seeing Ghosts, hence the title. The ghosts are the passengers who were brutally killed on the ship, obviously. The film has a few scary moments and it moves along quickly. There is a major plot twist at the end that I did not see coming at all and I thought it was brilliant. You can't comment on the acting of a horror movie, it's pointless, but luckily Ghost Ship has a cast of well known, and talented actors such as Gabriel Byrne, Julianne Marguiles, and Ron Eldard. If not for them, the film could have been a lot more cheesy, but I thought the film was intriguing, scary, and creepy. The opening scene by far one of the most gruesome scenes in film is worth seeing this film for.
